BATON ROUGE, La. – (July 9, 2007) – TraceSecurity, a leading provider of on-demand security compliance software and services, today announced that HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union (FCU), a financial cooperative serving over 110,000 members, has signed a 4-year contract with TraceSecurity to provide a comprehensive array of services and products such as training, assessments and testing, as well as TraceSecurity Compliance Manager. With well over 110,000 members, HawaiiUSA FCU serves employees at over 3,200 companies and associational groups based in the State of Hawaii including eligible members in the field of education such as employees, retirees, students and their parents of a majority of Oahu & Maui schools from pre-school through the 12th grade. The value of the multi-year contract was not disclosed.
Having previously relied on a local vendor for their security concerns, HawaiiUSA began searching for an independent third party security compliance manager to meet federal mandates and eliminate a conflict of interest, when their previous vendor also became their firewall provider. It was during this search that HawaiiUSA discovered TraceSecurity and their significantly broader spectrum of services which provide for a wider testing focus.
“While our IT staff was aware of some of the risks we might be exposed to, TraceSecurity really helped us elevate our security management program to the premiere level,” said Jason Ishihara, IT Network Specialist for HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union. “TraceSecurity has increased staff awareness on the methods and scams that can be utilized to allow unauthorized parties to gain access to confidential data. As a result of our work with TraceSecurity we are confident that we are using the top security and compliance resources and tools available in the financial industry.”
“With the number of identity theft cases and financial breaches on the rise, it’s just as important that financial institutions in more remote parts of the U.S., like Hawaii or less metropolitan areas, have access to the tools and services they need to meet regulatory compliance and security standards,” stated Jim Stickley, CTO and co-founder of TraceSecurity. “By having this type of proactive plan in place, we can help insure financial institutions, regardless of geographic location, can successfully meet all of today’s regulatory compliance mandates, as well as minimize the likelihood that their customers will fall victim to scams like phishing, vishing and identity theft.”
As part of the 4-year contract for HawaiiUSA FCU, TraceSecurity will offer security training, annual on-site vulnerability assessments, annual external penetration tests and quarterly external vulnerability assessments. Included with the vulnerability assessments is TraceSecurity Compliance Manager, a patented suite of software products that goes beyond traditional security technologies such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems. By combining asset database information, policy monitoring, vulnerability information and compliance surveys, Compliance Manager ensures that HawaiiUSA is meeting regulatory and compliance standards.
